Bi-Tone maintenance?

I'm going to buy a new XD 45 compact and I'd really like to find a bi-tone one. Is there anything you have to do to keep the stainless looking good? I'm just trying to find out what I'm getting into before I drop the extra dough.

Thanks All!

Just try not to scratch it. It's pretty hard not to and scratches are part of a gun's character anyway. Unless it's a safe queen, it going to get worn and marked. Maintain it well, keep it clean and lubricated and shoot the heck out of it.

Remember, when all is said and done, it's a tool. ;)

I just wipe it down with a silicone rag every time I use it.

Mine is not showing much use - I've had it 9 months or so.

This will be no safe queen. I plan to carry it on a regular basis, I just don't want to trash it up, lol. Thanks for the advice!

Mother's Mag & Aluminum Polish & Cleaner.

Stainless is easy to maintain and you can polish it up, remove powder residue, restore and protect the finish really easily compared to blued or nickel finishes. It's fairly easy to get light scratches out of stainless and it maintains that bright, shiny and new look like the day you purchased it and it is gentle enough to use on a regular basis. A silicon rag works great also. ;)

I use Mother's, and IMHO, it works very well on all of my firearms, without incident.

+1 for mothers - I use it on my corvette. :)

Just get a couple silicone rags and wipe down every time you are going to put it away/holster.

+1 Yes I'm also very curious about the laser grips and their ergonomics & cost?

I really like the Crimson Trace Laser grips.

I have them on My Kimber .45 - my Glock .26 and these were on my XD.

When I bought XDm I called CT and asked if the CT had grips for the XDm ..

Long story short and in my words not theirs ..

They do not make CT's for XDm yet

And do not know when they will.

They said that with the XDm having 3 sized grips they could not control which grip the customer used ... etc. etc.

So I measured the XD grip and it was the same size as the middle grip on the XDm (the one that came on it from the factory).

I installed it on my XDm and it fits great.

I really like shooting with the laser grip - I'm very accurate (for me) shooting with it.

Several hundred rounds and it's never lost it's point of aim.

I love it.

:)
