Default ammo help

Looking for a good home and self defense ammo. Have never owned a large caliber pistol. It is a xd 45.

Welcome to the forum

Any of hornadys defense ammo would work great.
If you are concerned with over penetration get some glassers (think thats what their called)
Congrats the XD is great

I have an XD. I love it. For HD/SD I use hornady TAP HP. For practice and plinking FMJ or round nose works just fine and is cheaper. Check out RWS, Sellier & Bellot, federal for plinking ammo

Usually one uses 230gr fmj for practice. It would make a lot of sense to stick with a 230gr hp for home defense. Brand wise I prefer Hornady for price and Remington because you get 25 instead of 20. Also, Winchester white box (Wally world has good prices) is used by many.

Enjoy your new purchase.
