I have 2 XD45's one is a Service and the other is a Compact

I love the way they feel and shoot. Plus the fact that you have 27rds of .45 with 1 spare mag does not hurt. The hardest part for me to get used to was the trigger pull and having to release it all the way. I was so used to my Sig P229 that it took awhile to get used to it. But now it seems totally natural. Now I am looking at getting a XD9 maybe a XDm9 not sure yet.

Go to your local skate board store & you can buy a roll of that grip tape for under $10.00. You will have enough material to make grip panels for many pistols. It comes in several colors. I tried the Hogue slip on rubber finger groved grip, but never could get it to stay in placeon my XD 45 Tactical or the XD 45 Service pistol.

IMO the Glock and XD are about tit for tat in quality. It just depends on which you like better. The higher bore axis on the XD is definitely a con, the grip safety is a pro for some people and a con for others.
Yes, I own a Glock now but I am in no way bashing the XD, I actually want one really bad

BTW the XD was not a Springfield design,
according the to 2001 edition of Gun Digest, the XD was originally imported from Croatia by Intrac Arms of Knoxville, Tennessee, and marketed by a company called HS America. The XD's original name was the HS2000 and it was identical to today's XD except the HS2000 did not have an accessory rail.

There is a nice-looking bitone XD45tacticool for like $475 on TFL. I considered buying it just to be able to mix-n-match parts with my OD green XD45tacticool. I've never see an OD with a stainless slide, would be cool.

I beg to deffer about the grip safety, I was at the range the other day and my 9yr old daughter who was practicing with my Ruger 22/45 while I was practicing with my XD45C.

She asked is she could shoot "Ralph", that is what she has called my XD45C since she was little. I did not like the idea of her asking me if I had my pistol with me when we were in public so she started naming my different pistols. It works since no one knows what she is asking and it is easier to explain to someone when she asks, ANYWAYS.

She was more then able to hold and fire the pistol. The first shot suprised her but with more practice she was getting better groupings at 7yrds. She uses the same two handed grip I showed her for shooting her Ruger. Now she wants to shoot "Dave" my Rock Island Armory 1911 Compact.

i like the XD i haven't shoot the XDM yet but im looking forward to getting my hands on one but i like the grip safety i dont think its needed for me but its an added part to carry i think i just dont like the grip angle on a glock im more a 1911 guy so the xd just made sense to me
