Default What is this scope?

Hey all, just picked up a Remington 700 chambered in 30.06 that came with a scope. The scope is adjustable from 25 to 500+ yards and 6x to 20x. It is marked "Illuminator 6x-20x 800627" in white on the underside. There is a red R in a silver field and cross hairs on the left side. I believe it is a Redfield scope but have not been able to find any information (owners manual) from Redfield or the net. HELP!!!! Anybody got a source for info on this? I love it and I would rather not screw it up trying to play with it....and NO! it's not for sale!

It sounds like an older Redfield 6-20X 44. The 25-500 yards is an adjustable objective AO. Illuminator is a Redfield term for the coating system on the lenses. The newer Redfields have the name in red on the side adjustment cap and still use the term Illuminator. It is pretty straight forward. The closest scope now offered by Redfield is the 6-18x44 AO.

Thanks for the reply. You and I are thinking along the same lines. I just couldn't figure out why I couldnt find any info on this particular model. Nothing pops up in a search of the web but the new stuff. I cant even get the "authorized" repair guys to get back to me with info. I guess they junked all the old manuals when the name was sold???

Leupold now builds the Redfield. There is no warranty on the older ones as the original company no longer exists. They were very good scopes.
