Default Throat mic

I have been thinking about getting a throat mic for communication has anyone ever used them and is it really something worth buying?

Never heard of one, sounds like something used in special OPS.

you probably would not look any more ridiculous wearing one of those than wearing one of those bluetooth devices stuck to the side of your head.

By Gosh it was invented for tankers in The big war. They called it a bone phone and you could use it with a protective mask on. They formally termed them Laryngophones. They do work but no where near as well as a standard mic.

Useful when in a HIGH noise environment (tanker, police car w/ siren on, etc)

You can do something similar by placing a mike against your throat. Works, sorta. Mini lip mike thing works about as well, allows hands free, etc.

I bet they did, hands free for sure

Russians uses them as late as 1980s. Funny, sold one I had just last week!
