Red dots Whats the difference?
 

How much of a difference is there between lets say a $700 Aimpoint and a $30 BSA red dot; or even one of the $40 aimpoint clones?

This may give you some insight. I would agree that there are quality differences, but I wouldn't put a $700 Aimpoint on a $100 .22 rifle. I'd offer that the quality/cost should be commensurate with the application.
