Ok my local gun smith said that I would
Not be able to put rails on my rifle because it is a Bushmaster Carbon 15 is this true? For the time being I put a forward grip on it what you think? Thanks, Simpleman

You might be able to get a free floating rail system.

I wouldn't know why you couldn't but I would suggest shooting an email off to Bushmaster and ask them directly.

i agree with the caveat that the current barrel nut would have to be milspec dimension but extra weight is the enemy of polymer AR recievers and rails weigh a lot. its liekly to accelerate wear. which brings up this:

ill second the call to bushmaster simply because there may be stress issues that prevent the use of rails on polymer recievers. your talking about removing the standard guards which are distributing weight to the barrel and reciever and placing it all at the point where the barrel nut tightens on the upper reciever. normally this isnt an issue with a standard aluminum reciever.
