I will have to try this. I have a nice Sig Scorpion that I havent had time to make a holster for yet. I was planning on only making an OWB for it but I may whip up an IWB to see how it feels

QUICK! Would a "crossbreed" Horse hide and kydex IWB holster made for a 1911 Commander/Officer work for a Govt model?

The way i understand 1911 models one is 3" barrel, one is a 4 inch barrel, the Govt is a 5 inch barrel.

Thanks DJ, i figured the frames were all the same having fondled the shorter barreled versions. The reason i ask is i have a chance to snipe one on fleabay but its advertised for the Commander/officer.

In your opinion, should i snag it...the price is 1/2 what i have seen elsewhere. W/ free shipping.

Its for my full sized SA 1911.

There is a difference in the 3" models but there really is not much a difference in the commander and gov fame. As long as you don't get one for an officers model you should be good to go.

I usually get holsters for a full size and I can use it for gov frames and commanders. I've had rigs that where for a commander that I used on a gov frame but you end up with a little bbl and slide sticking out the bottom.
We're not looking at much difference between the two honestly. It's .75" bbl length.

Should work with no drama.
The Thies in my pic is holding a CCO (commander slide on an Officer frame.) That same holster has no difficulty holding a 5" Govt size.

Anything with the same frame/trigger guard placement, should fit a crossbreed just fine. I originally purchased a Super Tuck for my Glock36. I sold it and bought a Glock 30, and it fits just fine. I would go out on a limb and guess mine will probably fit most Glock models.

Yeah, thats what i figured. Its just a matter of how the backing is cut. I went ahead and ordered it. Then i got a reply to the email i sent to the selling party answering my question...they said they would just add a note to the order to make it for the Govt. model for the same price. I suspect they will be getting another order or two from me if I end up liking this rig. Happy customers are repeat customers.
