Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I'm going to look through them and see which one I like best.

If nothing else, compare their prices to that of Crossbreed, especially if you want horsehide.

how about "retention" on this style...i am looking at one similar by rb holsters.

Just a random question. Is Kydex rough on a gun's finish?

Texaswoodworker, try fightngear.com. Guy handmakes IWB by hand and he has some that are cant adjustable. All for $40, not a bad deal. He uses regular cowhide leather or horsehide.

I carry a glock in a holster similar to this. It isn't going anywhere. It sort of snaps into place

It does, so does leather. You will carry a tool for self preservation. So buy two. One 1911 for your safety and one for looking at.

I dont mind holster wear. It just shows your tool is well loved.

The price is really appealing, and the holsters on the site look pretty good. I'll definitely look into them more.

A little wear won't bother me. I just didn't want something that could REALLY screw up the finish (bad scratches, excessive wear, ect).

Kydex wears more than leather. My brushed nickel 1911 (avatar) showed little wear after thousands of draws from leather, but on close inspection the wear from mostly riding in kydex shows wear. But since I am most confident with it for carry I accept it as character.
I tried leather and it is too bulky for my build and my 1911.
