Honest answer, I'd probably go with an M16 platform, because I have more training with it. It is modular, not really hard to maintain, and the ergonomics make it a fast operating system.

if this had to be based on what i already have, then i'd go with my AR. it just plain works, easy to field strip and clean and can be modified very easily if needed.

More details please. Milled receiver? Manufacturer? Options to build? Links?

I have not currently added an AK to the safe. That doesn't mean I wouldn't consider it if the right, hard core model was available.

Who told you that's a milled receiver? I'm not knocking stamped, they're just as good, and I'd prefer stamped myself (much cheaper and slightly lighter). But you see that dimple right above your mag well? Dead giveaway.

A bit older type weapon but still reliable,L1A1 or .303 because of the 10 shot mag and rate of fire power that can be put down. Both were fairly reliable and could take a fair bit of abuse in all sorts of conditions and more importantly had the knockdown power out to 300yds plus.
For a sidearm probably a Browning 9mm because if it's going to get close and personnel a big hole in the other bloke helps to change their attitude a fair bit.

If it was going to be house to house and REAL close a semi auto short barrel shotgun loaded with SG's,Buckshot or whatever makes porridge out of what it touches, regards
