hunting range finder's vs golf range finder's
 

What's different about them. Will a golf rang finder work just as well. Just wondering y the golf ones are half the price.

I think the golf ones are just for golf they have coures downloaded to them and show you the distances between the tee box and the hole. I don't have one but know a couple people that do, I have one on my phone that's an app and I know it wouldn't work.

U thinking the gps with the built in range finder the make little ones that u look through hit the pin and the tell u the range and on eBay there are some for like 20 bucks.

I'm not certain I don't play golf that much, but I think the flag pins have Lil things on them that you point the gps at I don't know if they can just be pointed at anything.

The REALLY cheap golf range finders use the height of the pin (flag in the hole) to determine how far you are from the hole- optically- not by bouncing a laser off the flag, or by GPS etc. .

Unless you have a deer carrying a golf pin around, is not going to do much for you. :p

There are three types of range finders for golf. The cheap ones are exactly what c3shooter described. Then there are GPS models that are based on the layout of the course and your GPS location. The third kind, which I have, is exactly the same as a hunting laser range finder. It uses a laser that bounces off a target. It's also priced the same. Mine says Callaway on it but its made by Nikon. The most popular models are made by Bushnell. :)

On a side note, the cheap ones that work optically are based on the same principle as mil-dots.
