I am interested in putting a laser on my XD-40. Who has the most accurate laser out of all the manufacturers?

Whats your budget? They are all as accurate as a laser....... Some are made better, some are made smaller. I had a lasermax micro laser on my h&k p2000sk and It has adjustments for windage and elevation . So you will have to shoot it at a distance and make your corrections or Buy a bore laser and line the two dots up at a said distance. The second option is easier

Gunrunner hit the nail on the head. Assuming its mounted to stay put in some way, the issue is almost always one of it staying at zero - that is, the windage and elevator adjustments shoot loose or on some junk I've seen, could loosen up and change the POI just by shaking it. +1 on the boresighting - I've saved a fortune on ammo since I started with an in-chamber laser. Just did one the other day on a 556 build with a 3x9 Leopold. Chambered the laser, turned the scope dials to line up the crosshairs, 1 st 3 round group was right on the paper at 100y. A coup,e of clicks and done.

Also it was my experience that once you mount it, make sure you use lock tite on the bolt.......... A flying laser down range is a little embarrassing.

I also couldn't find any decent holster for use with the laser anywhere but that's because of the pistol model.

You have to carry with a tactical holster designed to have a flash light mounted on the bottom of your pistol

Here is what mine looked like but I sold it to Buy a Kimber ultra covert II with cimson trace grips...........

Thats an option, see if crimson trace makes a grip laser for your make fire arm

Yeah, on a handgun the holster issue becomes problematic. I did a sig 220 for a Sherrif deputy and used an internal (replaces the guide rod, spring and the takedown pin) so it's internal to the weapon) so no special holster needed. He was happy with the end result. Theres some periodic maintenance on that setup, the laser takes a pounding but they do have a "tune up kit" which has some parts you swap out when the originals shoot out / shoot loose. I'm still only on my third cup of coffee but I can look up the current models when I walk over to the shop later on or just google it. Pretty sure it was a laseramx gen1.

Another option is the "laser in the grips". Look at Crimson Trace. Have heard good things and fits a standard holster.

Thank you guys for your feedback! I have it narrowed down to Crimson Trace's lasergrips and Lasermax' guide rod laser. Which do you think is more accurate with low maintenance?!

Dialed in right, they would likely be equal. From a maintenance point, the lasermax would need more attention since its inside the weapon and will pickup dirt and carbon. Also, the lasermax has a few parts that need replacement every so often. I'm just not a fan of the grips but that's as straightforward an answer to our question. Hope this helps.
