Default Hand Gun Safe Recommendations

Has anyone ever used the Gun Vault GV1000s? I was looking into one of the biometric finger print ones, but I heard horror stories about them not always reading correctly. I am leaning strongly towards this hand gun safe. Let me know your thoughts and recommendations.

A safe may be a necessary nuisance with young children in the home. If that is not the case, keep it within arms reach.

Have you looked at the ones that use the mechanical push button locks? I personally don't care for any electronics on a handgun safe.

Harbor Freight sells a nice little combo safe for less than $40 fwiw. Works wonders for me, plus has a key in case electronics fail (and has a low battery warning light).

ImageUploadedByFirearms Talk1408710893.196064.jpg these are the only boxes you should look at. With enough online research, this is where you will end up! Top rated box, no electronics to fail, and resets easy if wrong code is entered in a panic.

I would have to go with a biometric safe if I had children in the house. In a life or death situation it would be all I can do to get my finger on the scanner. I have a hard time getting my key ready when the bottom of a grocery bag is tearing.

Those bio safes are great if a bad guy has a pair of tin snips or hacksaw. Ill pass on owning anything that opens up with a part of me, attached or not.

Something you haven't seen before with a mechanical pushbutton lock.

A backup? A lockout? Retrofittable? Optional? Yes....Available soon!
