Default Gun safe for under $100

Can anyone recommend a reliable gun safe for under $100? I currently use a Stack-On PDS 500 but after seeing (on YouTube) how a 3 year old can pick that lock I'm in the market for a better alternative within my budget. Thanks!

Keep in mind that anything you buy for that price is not a "SAFE" its a locking box. But you probably already know that. They are designed not to keep thieves out but to keep honest people honest. As far as the Youtube stuff, I think they have redesigned most of those to fix some of the problems. I have a Baraska which looks very similar but has none of the flaws. I recently bought one that fits in a desk drawer that was $35 delivered on Amazon.com, it was from paragon locks and safes, but I don't see it available right now.

you might find a steel locking gun cabinet for that price, but seriously doubt you will find a true gun safe for that amount.

Have you considered getting a couple of heavy duty lock hasps and some really heavy pad locks? It would not be a real safe but you would not have a little kid picking the locks.

For a handgun safe you will need to spend more for something that is better built if you want reasonable security and quick, reliable access. If you look at one that uses the mechanical pushbutton locks, it will probably last you a lifetime. They are also made from heavier steel (from 14ga up to 7ga). You will need to spend $200.00 +, but only once for the 10 ga and 7ga ones. The 14ga one is around $175.00. The electronic ones usually break in a few years, so by the time you buy two of them.... you see my point. Buy quality and buy it once. It's really not that much more for the peace of mind.
