Gun Camera Review - Good News/Bad News
Hey guys, I picked up a Contour Roam camera, on sale from Daniel Defense, a good discount, since it includes the rail mounting accessory. I gave it a work out, with mixed results, on a shotgun, pistol and on a M4 with rail system. Here are the results:
Question for ya'll:
Do you, or have you, used a gun camera? If so, which one, and how have you found it useful to you? Etc. Care to share any videos?
Thanks.

Military helmet cams have allowed the documentation of firefights from the warfighter's POV and have proved useful in after-action analysis. But putting a camera on a firearm is a whole 'nother story. I love gun-camera footage from aircraft...but aircraft gun cams are mounted on the platform not the weapon itself.
I think you'd agree with me that the Gun Cam is a gimmick. I have nothing at all against gimmicks if they're fun and work as advertised. Yours needs duct tape.

I don't really agree with your POV (pun intended!). A gun mounted camera can be a helpful training tool for three gun and IDPA shooters, and I've spoken to several who use them for this purpose.

Isn't there a video camera integrated into a scope used for/by SWAT people? It feeds a sniper’s view of the target to command.

All right, I'll concede to your POV that it has training applications...I just think it would be more helpful if it stayed on the weapon.

I appreciate your POV on my POV.
As for staying on the weapon, that is helpful.
The mount that Countour sells is the problem, there is a third party solution which is much better for mounting the Countour.
Also, interestingly, it locked on solid to my SCAR rail system and didn't move at all through a good range session, I posted that video today.

Is that so you can have all the brass asshats in your headset micro-managing the shot and rattling your concentration?

I think all the asshats 'talk amongst themselves'. Only one person speaks to the snipers.

In the military you get six generals on video teleconference watching live UAV feed and arguing over which door the Sergeant should kick in.

Really? I expect they would all be 'discussing' the situation, but are they all online to the Sergeant?!
