Is the ammo all dried up just because of the holidays or is it just national freakout?

I think people are freaking out. I called in an order for bullets from Extreme bullets on 12/11. At the time I placed the order they said it would be about a week out before they would ship. Called yesterday to check the status of my order and was told that it would be another week at least.

They said that there were two orders yesterday for 55,000 and 15,000 bullets each.

She was nice and said she would move my order up in the pile some more though.

Went around to 3 of my lgs today. I saw 0 ARs in stock but wasn't looking to hard. Looking for .223/5.56 and 7.62x39. One store had a case of surplus 5.56 for $10 a box of 20, had 80 rounds of Tula for $6 a box of 20. The next one was sold out of both said a bunch was coming in though. The next store was sold out of .223 except for $27 a box of soft point 223. They had two cases of Tula brand 7.62x39, selling for $7 a box and had a 5 box limit.

Not really gouging much here from what I saw. A couple dollars wasn't bad, I know two other stores in the surrounding area selling Tula brand for $12 a box. Saw 0 pmags, they did have some surplus steel 30 rounders around for $30. Not sure the normal price on those though. Stores were busy but not swamped. All in all a good day.

Also picked up a couple hundred rounds of surplus 7.62x54r, $4 for 20, did not want to buy a whole tin. Next store had the new production non corrosive for $7. Oh well, I'll clean extra.

And another sad part of this crazy time is some of the smaller shops who have depended mostly on the AR Rifle sales and accessories to keep them a float are going to go under due to the fact they can not get parts and product. And even if they order rifles today it can be up to one year before they get an AR order to replace product. Most of the major manufacturers do not have other parts available due to the fact of the demand of parts for the complete rifle orders. Which are numbered in the thousands for all companies.
