Default AR question

For a replacement hand guard - does it matter what length I currently have on mine and is my barrel length a critical factor?

Yes, it matters. If you have a carbine length, a rifle length guard will not fit, and vise/Versa.

The barrel length by itself does not, the gas system length does (full or mid or carbine)

Generally they are, but not the buttstock on the tube (mil speck or commercial), buffer springs, etc and the forearms) The rest 'mostly is universal

Depends... terrible answer but its true.

A pick of what you have now would help.
