Default AR question

For a replacement hand guard - does it matter what length I currently have on mine and is my barrel length a critical factor?

Yes, it matters. If you have a carbine length, a rifle length guard will not fit, and vise/Versa.

The barrel length by itself does not, the gas system length does (full or mid or carbine)

Depends... terrible answer but its true.

A pick of what you have now would help.
