WWII vintage M1911

Sure would like to find one. Some of the auction sites have outrageous prices. Any thoughts?

Be prepared to pay one of those outrageous prices.

When I bought my 1911 a few days ago, I came across an early forties Ithaca with English markings supposedly where the Brits passed it through one of their armories in the process of returning it to the US forces. They were asking 1500, comes with a glass top display case and carved white grips (imitation ivory I believe)

I thought the price was fair. The gun is in great shape. Let me know if you want contact info. I passed because it was just too far out of my range.

They're probably just tossing them out to avoid the ffl transfer stuff, or maybe ebay won't let them sell frames on their site. I've been seeing the same thing, some of those "minus frame" kits are at damn good prices.

Ebay dont allow frames-
The slides are going for about 1/3rd - 1/2 the price of a whole gun in that "style" of 1911 so if one had a xtra frame laying around

Follow up on some auctions like Cowan's.
I picked up a 1945 frame (with the military stamp) that had a 9mm top for $250.00. After researching and finding the parts, I had a 1945 era parkerized 1911a1 that had Colt parts. Total bill after all was said and done? Approx $525.00
