Your point? Toyota probably sold more Camrys than Corvette, Mustang Cobra and Viper combined. Means nothing, depends what you want. Before you get your shorts in a bunch Matt, I carry a 9 these days. Lighter, easier to conceal, cheaper to shoot, and I'm well drilled enough to engage with it. That said, if I could only have one handgun, it would be a 1911.

Well, I rented a 1911 today, nice fun gun to shoot, I don't know if it's worth saving up for though. I might be a nutcase, but I might just be a 9mm person. Or both!

To each his own, but after following this thread I have basically decided to rent a 1911 in the near future and test it out. Problems, ammo is expensive, and my LGS doesn't often (if ever!) clean their rental guns. They consider it a torture test, of sorts. They replace their rentals with new models once a year, so if the gun can survive a year on that wall, it must be worth it's salt.

He gave me a very clean one to use, "Magnum Research", I think it was. Didn't know they made a 1911 to be honest!
Lol, magazine was 8 rounds, but it took me like a full minute to get the 8th round in, went with 7 every other time. A box of 50 .45acp was about $24 though

Yeah I only just learned about magnum research's 1911s a few days ago. I guess they've been expanding their market?

Damn near everyone makes a 1911 anymore. I'm still sainting for FN to put one out. If only they cared about us civilians. The 1911 is the top tits of the pistol world. All hail John Browning. I still skeet with an auto 5. Not ideal but damn it if I can't smoke some clays that beast... And rabbits... And dear... And dove.

Want a sweet caliber, even in a 1911 frame? .40 S&W Is the 1911 worth the price? It is getting a little harder to justify it, isn't it... It is so old that it does require a lot of machining.

I don't mind them much but don't get excited by 'em. Actually prefer my .40 1911-ish compact Star Firestar over my Colt.
