Default Why a 1911?

On my local GA forum a fella asked what's so special about a 1911. He said it's old, only carries 7 rounds, and it's heavy - so it's not as "good" as his XD.

I read thru the responses, and this was the best one I saw so I thought I'd share. No, it's not JHP rounds in the pic - but it's a good one (and a Colt!)...

This was another I really liked:

I like the pics, thanks for sharing. Did you ask him if he had ever shot a 1911?

A bunch of folks did and the answer was no. For a noob, it does seem like the 1911 is a relic of the past - big, heavy, low capacity - then you shoot one and the lightbulb goes on...

Kimber did but it was a double stack and they're no longer making it.

I don't even want to know why as JMB would release the lightning bolts to fry the blasphemers...

I have to be honest, I wasn't really interested in one until after I got into pistol shooting. Then curiousity got the best of me and now there is a Kimber living in my house.

Totally true.

Let the plastic gun bashing begin. BLAAAAAAAAAAAA

I love 1911's don't get me wrong but I also love my XDm and Glock and have had nothing go wrong with either of them. I bought them because it was my god given right, not because my gov't said I had to.

So everyone hush now
