The gun debuted at this years shot show. They at one time made great 1911s. Got out of the 1911 business they said to concetrate on there AR line. I'm a traditionalist pretty much when it comes to 1911s and hate all the engraving, external extractors etc..... This gun appeals to me for one purpose and that would be a truck gun. There 1911s in the past were high dollar and excellent guns. This one they say will be about a MSRP of $800-900 bucks. Once the newness wears off $200 less in gun stores I'd say. If the quality is like the older guns then they will be a great buy for a great gun. Only time will tell.

Colt has the fewest mim parts outside a full custom builder like nitehawk or les baer.
Obviously not familiar with 1911 manufacturers. Ithaca, Dan Wesson, and SVI (Infinity) production models have zero (0) MIM parts - and are not "full custom builders." You can also get models from STI with no MIM. Colt pistols have a mystique and associated with the history and horsey on the side that some people just can't seem to get past. I got past Colt 1911's about 25 years ago after owning two of them. They're okay, not the best and not the worst. They make a fine base gun for having a full custom built, but outside of the Elite Series and Special Combat Government, they don't make much that I'd consider owning.

Soooo, would you clean a poly 1911 like a Glock? Top rack of the dishwasher on the gentle cycle?
