I found a great deal on ARMSCOR .45 grain full metal jacket http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/
I switched to ARMSCOR AMMO last year, it shoots very accurate, plus I have had no failures or jams.

Natchez is good. Check cheaper than dirt for deals as well. There's always something on one of the sites.

It's relative to what you buy in total. Last time I bought ammo it was 9mm. I split a case of Speer lawman 9mm from Natchez, paid about $.23 per round. And I added a few boxes of .45 auto as well one box was Fiocci jhp at a little less than $20 a box. Not the best HD ammo but good enough for me to sample it at the range. I'm still try different ammo in my 1911 so I buy a lot of different grain/brands.

For home defense ammo go to your local gun store and ask about glazer safety slugs, extreme shocks (if they still have any left since the company is no more), or RBCD. It is a round with compressed powdered tungsten. It will not go through walls, but will devistate your target. When it impacts it dumps all of its energy into the target and fragments that powdered tungsten causing massive shock.
