whats the proper way to break in barrel?
whats the proper way to break in my barrel on my 1911 range officer? how many rounds should i shoot before cleaning it and so forth. any suggestions??

I asked the same question to Roy Huntington (Editor of American Handgunner).
His reply was that the barrel of a handgun does not need the same particular break in as the rifle. Just clean it and shoot it. |
1. Buy some ammo. (If you reload, make some)
2. Shoot recently purchased/built ammo. Big silly grin on face is optional. 3. clean after use. 4. Repeat as needed. |
Jack chars the inside of their barrels; sets them outdoors to breathe; shakes out the loose soot; fills and stores them untouched for months. :rolleyes:
