Have a Kimber Custom II CDP that I love. Pick up a Colt Combat Commander xse after I get back from Europe that I can't wait to shoot. Also own 3 HKs which are great shooters but obviously not 1911s.

Am new to the 1911 but after a lot of research and talking to some avid shooters I decided to go with the Springfield Range Officer! In your price range an a lot of great features.

Second time handling the gun (90 day wait) and shooting it at the LGS, it instantly became the most accurate handgun I own. This was after about 100 rounds at 25 yards which is the furthest I have ever shot a handgun.

Hogwash. Just like they have a custom shop right? Fair guns that are overpriced and a lousy warranty. Some of there guns are beauties though.

Sig all the way. You can save money with something else, but if you want a good shooter that will run longer than you will, go with the Sig.
