What is this mixed up Colt??
This is some sort of mixed up Colt. Circled rampant pony on rear of slide. No military stamps. Serial number too low. Help!!! What is this?

either a civilian production gun or a parts gun. looks like it has been refinished at some point.

Well, it looks like it, whatever it is, has a Colt slide!  Looks kinda like my 1991A1, but the thumb safety and some of the other parts are different. How did you come by it?

Paid to much for it on gunbroker. Thought the slide could be of value.
Should be Srl 1-20,000 then they moved the pony and the patent dates were changed about 84,000.

unfortunately the nickel plating ruined what value it had. now its just a beater/shooter. when someone refinishes a un it ruins any collector value. the exception being for military arsenal reworks. those guns still hold value if it was done by an actual us government arsenal and reissued for military service.
in the arena of civilian firearms in regards to 1911s refinishing completely destroys collector value.
condition is everything
