I think the ruger commander is the way to go. Has many extras at the stock level and is priced great.

I really like my Kimber Pro CDP II. I'm not a person that's tied to certain brands. I see what I like and if I can afford it, I but it. Next one on my want list is a Springfield TRP Operator.

Here's my CDP after new grips and replaced the plastic mainspring housing for stainless with a mag well. The turbo screws really sets the grips off too.

For a 1911 that runs only 599.99 and can compete with the most high ends 1911 out there, try a STI Spartan IV. You will thank me later.

STI is as big a name or bigger than Kimber, Colt, name em

There is only one 1911 pistol. All others are copies of the Colt. The name "Commander" refers only to a Colt 1911. If it does not have the rampant pony it is not a true 1911 Pistol.
