I love the commander SR1911...haven't seen any around here though. Kinda like its predecessor.

For the price & All American made Quality.? I myself would consider the New Ruger SR1911 Commander.? I bought their full size SR1911 Last year & am totally happy with it for my SD EDC Gun.? But if I would of just waited another year,? When they came out.? I would of purchased the Commander model,? Same exact gun just that it's about 3/4 of an inch shorter than their Full size model.

Plenty of good choices out there. I have an STI Ranger in .45 and have been very happy. Reasonably priced at around $1100, nothing flashy just a reliable workhorse. Like all STI pistols it's tight fitting, smooth, and very accurate, with an excellent trigger. The boys down in Georgetown, TX. makes some fine 1911s. The Ranger is worth consideration.

I can't afford a Nighthawk, so I went with a Kimber ultra carry
