Thinking of converting from 10mm to 40S&W, thoughts?

My CZ-Dan Wesson CBOB to accept .40S&W for practice, but to keep the 10mm for carry.
Fit a new barrel from Kart, change recoil springs.

Would the 10mm mags work for both calibers?

Hello,

While the 10mm mags may work with the .40S&W, don't count on them being reliable as most .40 mags have a spacer in back.

A better investment, IMHO, would be a reloading setup. Reload your spent 10mm brass and practice for cheaper than you can buy .40.

You have a 1911, and so far as I know, Dan Wesson doesn't use special rifling. Therefore, you could get into casting bullets and save even more.

Got a bud that has a DW 10mm bobtail, commander length.
He had another barrel fitted and setup for long oal 40s&W. He reloads the 40's long (almost 10mm oal) with 180gr bullets and is able to use the 10mm mags without spacers.
He shoots long loaded 40 in his USPSA Limited class 2011 anyway, so it works out well for him. The brass is way cheaper and more available
