They find me
Got a PM on a local forum this morning from a fella I know and he was looking for a smallish carry gun. I told him about my PPK/S and he wanted it. For trading material, he had a stainless Springer GI with 4 Wilson mags and a Galco holster. While I didn't need another 1911, it was a good trade value wise so I made the deal. Stock GI triggers are pretty sloppy so I broke it down and put in a better aluminum trigger. I also dislike hammer bite so I ground down the top of the grip safety a tad and put in a Commander hammer. Going to keep this one pretty plain jane for a truck gun but did want to personalize it just a tad.
And no - it came with the idiot mark...

That's a good looking addition you got there NGIB.
Just wondering, what is the Guiness Record for rotated firearms from one person?? At this rate I think you will have officially had 13%-16% of all pistols sold in this country in your hands at one time or another.

Dave, what do you do stand on a street corner with a trench coat and fedora and ask people as they walk by “pssssst,,, Hey!, got any guns to trade”?

You probably won't believe this but I know a few guys that trade at 3-4 times the volume I do. I'm actually pretty happy with what I have now so I really don't go out looking for any new ones. This fella knew I'd probably have something he wanted (and knew I'm a sucker for 1911s) so...

When I lived in Marietta, I was in a circle of real traders so I'm pretty well known on the local forums. Even after I moved, I stay in touch and have developed a circle down here as well. Cash is short these days so trading has really become VERY popular. Folks know I have a lot of different stuff so they tend to hit me up...
