Perspective IS often everything. I have seen many negative posts on firearms that I own and hold in very high regard and have only good to say about Taurus...so far. That said, there is certainly 'daylight' in finish and feel between my PT1911 AR and my new Sig 226....!

So we have two lottery winners.

I do not carry a lottery ticket for PD!

Wouldn't own one if you gave it to me. Sorry. I went in to buds a few years ago and picked up a Taurus and they took it from me and said you are to good of a customer and we won't sell that to you. Said everything I needed to know. They are tired of sending them back for repair. Have a buddy who owns a couple and no problems so far. He hasn't bought one in several years though and owns 50 or so 1911s.

Just because you love taurus does not mean all of the complaints are false. Want to see a good 1911 for under 800$? Here's two.

Well here are two under $650 that are just as good, and of couse its all false what do you expect from some self proclaimed 1911 experts, that can't except that Taurus offer a production 1911 equivalent to there $1200 1911 for under $650, I'd be pissed off too.

Self proclaimed? Anywho. Yes the pt1911 is ok. Is it as good as a sti spartan for the same $$? No. Is it as good as my 1100$ sig scorpion? No. Is it a good starter 1911? Very much so. Am i a taurus hater? Heck no! I have two 24/7's. But,Do you own any high dollar 1911's? I doubt it. I work part time at a gun dealer(largest in nwpa) you know how many pt1911's that are junk out of the box? Maybe 8/10. How many colts? Ive seen 0.

funny, even my LGS refuses to carry Taurus pistols and hesitates in ordering them for customers. i asked him once a few years ago why. his reply was they have poor CS and are a PITA to get warranty work on and he also said he had more of them in for warranty work than any other brand he carried.

if you have one and it works fine and you are happy with it, congrats. if it doesn't, i wish you all the luck in the world with it. just to clarify my position, i currently own a Taurus revolver in 44 Mag. and like it just fine, but if it ever gives me one problem, it will be repaired then sold, quickly!

I'll stack up my PT 1911 against any of the high end pistols. I paid 469 bucks for mine no failures in 4 years. I didn't have to run 200 dollars of ammo through it to make it function correctly. Right out of the box it fed everthing fmj's, hp's and swc's. I've got five or six cheap mags and it functions perfectly with all of them. You aren't going to buy a kimber for that money not even a stripped down one. It's also very accurate. As far as finish goes I'll take function over pretty any time.

Kimbers are junk. You should never need a 500$ break in period. Second, my nhc will shoot a 1" group at 30 yards with crap ammo...will yours?
