taurus pt 1911

hi everyone, i picked up a taurus pt 1911 with 2 mags and the tools and the laser light combo for 300$ i was wondering if any of you have shot with or any experience with this 1911 and what kind of experience was it?

The bottom part of the trigger is sharp and you will cut your trigger finger. You will need to file it the sharp edges away. Other then that not a bad gun

Have no experience at all with it, a friend has one and loves it.

What model PT1911 is it? I have the Stainless Steel version and it has been nothing but screwed up since I bought it new. I could send back for warranty until I am blue in the face and years would pass by, but there is one thing right after another wrong with the damn thing. Keep your eye on the plunger tube to see if it starts to loosen up and back away from the frame.
I hope you have better luck with yours. I have a feeling Taurus is better at machining steel and aluminum than they are at stainless steel. If you plan on shooting it a lot, I would call Taurus and get a spare extractor, you probably won't be able to get most aftermarket extractor to work with the gun because they are somewhat proprietary. The Taurus extractor is MIM and they do not bend, so don't ever try it, it will snap! They have more material left in the valley of the extractor than any aftermarket (real) extractors. The originals are known for not being very durable at the claw, but if you make sure never to drop the slide on a loaded chamber it might last you awhile.
Sounds like an OK price....good luck with it!

Ive had an early model blue for about 3 yrs now and am very happy. i bought it not liking the sights but never having used them gave em a try. i later machined a set i like better. i also put Pearce grips on like i have on all my working guns. my show off 1911s have wood or bone. i shot this gun very hard and after 6k plus rounds have detailed stripped and cleaned and replaced the springs. the only FTFs Ive had have been reload or mag related.

Just a few short years ago, when I was deciding on my first 1911, I read on this site and several others an overwhelming dislike of the Taurus line, especially their 1911. Based upon the many, many reports of problems with their 1911's, I would never make a purchase of one. There must have been a reason for the cheap price. Good luck.

The only thing about the cheap prices though...Follow some of the Hi Point threads too. It makes for some good reading.
