Thanx guys for the input. I guess I'll do some more looking before I decide. DJ, I looked up Bill Ward & found several good vids on youtube. I'm ashamed to say I hadn't heard of him. I wasn't very into BS back in the late sixties-early seventies, but Tomorrow's Dream was my favorite. Gotta watch those youtube vids now. jd45

Might also look into the Rock Island Tactical model. Pretty much all of the same features and from what I have HEARD, the customer service is better.

Hadn't been my experience. My first Taurus 1911 broke a tab off the ambi-safety. A call to Taurus and they issued a call tag, fixed the safety, and sent it back to me. Cost out of pocket $0. I believe they also have a policy that if the gun isn't fixed and return within 90 days, you get a brand new pistol, no questions asked. Can't say that about Armscor. They may offer you a "wholesale price" refund though...

I also owned a Citadel, made by Armscor. The finish was so thin that brass that was thrown forward because of an out of adjustment extractor literally took the finish off the frame! Then the front sight kept coming loose and would drift from one side all th way to the other. It also wouldn't feed any hollowpoint ammo, no matter the maker. I got ride of that gun and told myself if would be the last Armscor gun I ever bought.

Default Taurus PT1911

I've had this 1911 since 2008, it has about 10K rounds through it with out a single hiccup all stock internals with a couple action spring replacements, best $500.00 I have ever invested

I've got a PT-1911 in duo tone. Its a nice looking pistol and havent had the problem with the safety, but I have fixed someone else's before with a simple tools and a little common sense.
I dont really trust the gun for a 460 Rowland kit but I do trust it for +P ammo as it'll eat anything I put in the mag for it and not sweat it.
One of my friends has a PT-1911 AR stainless and he loves it. My next 1911 will be stainless just because the blueing on my PT-1911 is wearing in the grip area, of course that's to be expected with heavy use. I may get it Rogaurded, but like they said...its still a Taurus, it wont collect much value other than sentimental.

OK, I'll keep my eyes peeled, as they say, for a used one under $500. Thanx, jd45
