Because in California, you are not a free person. |

While Taurus 1911s are OK, there are other alternatives that are just as good and some are cheaper... |

Its not California's fault, its Taurus's fault. They refuse to certify the weapons for sale in Cali. If you don't like it, call their customer service and whine.
In the mean time, many other 1911s, most of higher quality, can be purchased in California. |

I know there are other quality 1911s out there but the Taurus are so cheap and the looks are pretty decent. Any suggestions for an awesomely cheap, awesome but cheap, 1911??? __________________ Down Like a Clown with an UpSide DOwn frOwn Ready to Turn This Town UpSide Down |

Kind of hard to nail down what you're looking for because "awesome but cheap" doesn't mean much to me. You want a carry 1911? Steel or alloy? GI style or bells & whistles? What's your budget?
At the low end of the price range, I'm a fan of the Rock Island Tactical. I tend to avoid the GI style guns as the tiny sights don't work for me... |

You live in occupied territory. Not all gun companies want to submit to the constitution bashing-freedom hindering rules of Commiefornia. |

As a poor college student and AF vet and living in CA, I was looking for something in the range for $500 or so. And it seems like the RIAs are excellent for my budget and everyone seems to like them a lot!! So I think I'm getting myself a gift here for the new year. Thanks NGIB! __________________ Down Like a Clown with an UpSide DOwn frOwn Ready to Turn This Town UpSide Down |

Florida has nice weather too, and is much more gun friendly. Plus there's no earthquakes here.
