Not being a gunsmith, is it a big deal to have an ambidextrous safety put on my S&W 1911?

Default SW1911sc

I have been to the range about 3 more times since my original post and have now put about 300 rounds thru the SW. Have not had a single issue for the last 100 rounds. I am a happy camper! I have also been lurking around the IDPA matches going on at the range to see how they work. I am thinking about entering one for the first time sometime soon.
