Default SS Colt.

Well I finally got the pistol I bought in June. Was dirty as hell. Been sitting since 1984. Cost me $400 so I did alright. Took me 2 1/2 hrs to clean it up. Will take a hike in the woods tomorrow and shoot it. I don't shoot at indoor ranges or at paper. How boring. If that all there was to shooting I would stop shooting. Here are a few pics.

You STOLE that pistol for $400!!!
I totally agree about shooting inside, I've spent thousands of rounds outdoors and only shoot inside once.. Can't wait to read your report!

Well I might as well stick the range report here. The gun wouldn't shoot at all. I loaded up a few mags and click, rack, click, rack, click,........................ My fault as when I got the gun I knew that it had never been fired and had sat since 1984. I took it all apart on Saturday and polished the trigger bow and few other things and got a great trigger pull. Oiled and greased everything, but, I didn't take out the firing pin. The firing pin was frozen in place. How stupid of me. DUH!!! anyway I broke it down in the woods and finally got it shooting. I had to use a pocket knife to get the pin and spring out. Long story short I got it shooting. Two-three rounds a mag, then four-five and finally the last three mags all eight.
Here are a few pics of the shoot. Remember I don't waste my time shooting indoors. ALL MY SHOOTING is done outdoors hiking in the woods, 20,000 rds or so a year. I took a Metro Arms Serial # 000056, Kahr Cw .40, and the Colt.

In the field work bench.

Daniel one of my sons shooting the MA. It ate everything as usual. 2,000 rds and never a hiccup.

It's finally shooting!!!

I spend so much time hiking in the woods with my kids (now grown) and grandkids hiking, shooting and fishing that this is the way I think my wife pictures me.

It's a 1911, classically styled, stainless, and a Colt...judgement: I like!
