Default Springfield Longslide

Does anyone have experience with this model? Got one today, never saw one before, and look forward to shooting it,maybe using it to shoot pins with if it prove to be a good shooter.I'm a bit worried about the two piece guide rod, should I be?

In a word...."no".
I almost got the SA long slide when I purchased my Gov't length Loaded model.
Mine has the 2 piece FLGR too. Over 1500 rounds through it. Has performed flawlessly.
I may one day switch out to the GI style guide rod when my recoil spring wears out (3000 to 5000 or so rounds) but that would simply be due to ease of disassembly only. Functionally, they perform just the same as the GI style (maybe even better in yours due to the extra slide length).

I've never had any problems with my SA longslide and no I don't care for the newer style guide rod.

I picked up an Oly Matchmaster Longslide specifically because it has the GI style rod.

I do like the longslides for range work. I need all the help I can get.
