Default Springfield Armory Micro Compact

I am thinking about purchasing a Springfield micro compact. Wanting to know if anyone knows of any major problems with these guns. I have had many 1911, just never a Springfield.

First things first, welcome to the forum. Stop by the introduction forum, say hi and tell us a little about yourself. You'll find a lot of great people here with a ton of gun knowledge.

I have a full size Springfield 1911 that I love. A friend of mine has a Micro 9mm Springfield EMP 1911 that I have shot many times and I also like it a lot. Springfield is a great gun. They have been around forever and will most likely be around longer than all of us.

I didn't realize you were talking about a 1911. I was confused by the thread title at first. I have had great experiences with a Springfield 5", but I've had mixed results with Defender-sized 1911's. My Colt New Agent was awesome, never a hiccup. I'm sad I sold it...

My Kimber Ultra was a different matter altogether. I could never get it running for me. I'm pretty sure it was me and not the gun, but since I had such good results from the New Agent, I just decided to stick to the Commander as my smallest 1911 I'd ever carry.

the SA EMP and the Micro Compact 45 are very similar pistols, the EMP comes in 9mm and 40, while the MC comes in 45. i have a Loaded Micro Compact 45 and it is absolutely a great pistol to own and shoot. they are not cheap by any means, as the MSRP is $1375 and i paid $1200 + tax for mine. but the question is would i do it again? absolutely yes! even though it's a compact pistol in 45, it's still a joy to shoot and pretty dang accurate with it's 3" barrel. recoil is different than it's FS brothers in the 1911 platform, but not bad just a little different. mine so far has had zero problems, and has ate whatever i fed it. i would have no hesitations in using this pistol for EDC in the least.

I have the microcompact as well as the 9mm emp (also had the 40 emp but recently traded it for the Springfield XDS and another gun). They are all great guns. I love the microcompact and carry it in the winter. Super accurate, easy to take down (in my opinion), and just plain easy to shoot. If you have the money and can find the microcompact, buy it. I waited 6 months to get mine since Springfield only produces some about twice a year. By the way, welcome to the forum and fun with your new microcompact if you get one.

Have you had/shot a 3" 1911 before?

I have a Kimber ultra carry and a colt defender. So I am familiar with the snap of a 3" barrel.

The Springer is a fine gun.........but........if you have a Defender, why would you need any other mouse gun??
