If you're comfortable with a 3" .45 ACP gun you should be happy with the Springer.
If you have not fired a 3" before and are familiar with the 1911 I need to warn you the compacts do not act like their longer barreled brothers. Not bad, just different requiring some skill embellishment.
Watch your thumb web for hammer bite! The compact GI model sure could use a beavertail grip safety. The short officers grip naturally forces your hand higher into the zone of pain.
