From the S&W site:
Special Features:
- Performance Center Action Job,
- 3.5-4 lb. trigger pull,
- throated barrel,
- precision Crowned Muzzle,
- Polished Feed Ramp,
- Briley Spherical Barrel Bushing,
- 30-Lines Per Inch Checkering,
- Ambidextrous Frame Safety,
- Slide Ported Lighting Cuts
This gun is not a personal defense piece. WHY?- Performance Center Action Job,
- 3.5-4 lb. trigger pull, Too light for PD
- throated barrel,
- precision Crowned Muzzle, Useless in CQB
- Polished Feed Ramp,
- Briley Spherical Barrel Bushing, Useless in CQB
- 30-Lines Per Inch Checkering,
- Ambidextrous Frame Safety, Impediment in CQB
- Slide Ported Lighting Cuts Will cause timing issues with hot PD loads
For a carry gun you should do as little gunsmithing as possible to it. Any accuracy work done will affect reliability.
This gun is confused as a target model. WHY?- Performance Center Action Job,
- 3.5-4 lb. trigger pull,
- throated barrel, Done for other than ball ammo feed issues.
- precision Crowned Muzzle,
- Polished Feed Ramp, Done for other than ball ammo feed issues.
- Briley Spherical Barrel Bushing,
- 30-Lines Per Inch Checkering,
- Ambidextrous Frame Safety,
- Slide Ported Lighting Cuts
It looks like it was designed by the guys at the Fishing Lure School of Design. You know the one, it's where they design the lure to catch the fisherman, not the fish.

Looks like a pretty gun to have, but, I have to agree with Cane in that, a 3.5lb trigger in a self defense situation seems like an accident waiting to happen. If I were to use a 1911 for self defense, it would be a loose fitting, fairly heavy triggered GI style gun.
