Snake shot?
I have a copperhead problem. Big time. Like I'm in the meca of the Copperhead world. I found the following snake shot for a .45.
CCI Ammunition - Product Detail
Anyone know if this (or know of any other snake shot .45) will feed reliably in a 1911?
If not, I guess I could always use the excuse to get a revolver in 44 or 45LC to tote around the yard

Bird shot works for me.

I would think a nice light load like skeet or dove & quail would be best. It doesn't take much to kill a snake, and the smaller the shot the more dense/uniform the pattern.

This sidewinder died from 2, 125gr. 9MM. No shot needed. That SOB should not have bit my dog.

Remington used to offer a crimped brass .45ACP shotshell that cycled perfectly in my Colt. I'm not sure if they make them anymore, though.

This one succumbed to #8 shot. The shot cup took his head clean off. I was within striking range but thank God he wasn't sure enough to try.

Do not count on an auto pistol cycling semi-auto with shot loads. some MAY, but don't count on it. They do OK at VERY close range-8 ft or so, but open so much as to be useless much beyond that.
Shotgun? Oh Hell Yeah! 7 1/2s or 8s will slice and dice, and make mounds of dead snake! Anything from .410 to 10 guage. Might be one of the FEW uses I would have for a Taurus Judge.

Seriously, time for you to get a nice revolver...
