Skeletonized Hammer W/O Beaver Tail?

Is it possible to put a skeletonized hammer on a 1911 without a beaver tail?

yes you could, but you increase the chance of hammer bite to the web of your hand. that's why the grip safety is made the way it is. to protect your hand from the hammer. i you notice, there is a relief cut into the top of the grip safety for hammer clearance.
