I am a happy owner of a Kimber ultra covert II and think it is an awsome accurate pistol but because its a 3 inch barrel it not a very ideal target weapon but I would and do trust my life with it.
I decided that I wanted a pistol that would have a specific function as a range/target weapon so a full size pistol is what I wanted.
I decided after looking that I really didn't want another Kimber. The Kimber is great but I have one so I wanted something different. I have had H&K's and had my eye on a MK23 SOCOM but at about $2,300 that's a lot for a pistol that I'm not shooting competitively. I also had a man crush on a Sig 220-X6 and same deal but at almost $2,700.
I ended finding this Sig platinum elite which I thought was a magnificent looking pistol as well as it came with adjustable night sights. The sights kind of through me because the front is the normal night sight dot but the rear is a vertical night sight line which was new to me so I wasn't sure how well I would shoot with it.
I purchased my wife a Sig SP2022 New and bought a used one to see how well it shot before she shot hers and it performed excellent, real tight shot groups at about 15 yards so I was impressed (my first Sig in all). The Sig platinum elite was listed at $1100 and I talked the owner of the shop into giving me $300 for the used SP2022 with a 10 round magazine, I paid $375 for it with (1) 10 round and (2) 12 round magazines that I kept for my wife's Sig. He also gave me a 5% law enforcement discount because of my job and with 2 extra mags, it cost me $850 out the door.
Now for what you care about, how does it shoot?
First 3 shots at 15 yards.
The first full 8 shot mag different target at the same distance.
Very impressed, I have a group of about 3 guys that I shoot with on a regular and we have a on going contest that the loser has to Buy wings at Buffalo Wild Wings after we finish, I think I'm done buying wings......lol
