sig 1911-22 or ruger mkIII
Anyone own the sig/gsg 1911 or a mark 3 please let me know what your experience is like with it.

I think it comes down to what your centerfire preferences are.
My likes tend to lean towards the 1911 pattern pistol sooooooo I went with the GSG. I'm now looking at the Colt UMAREX Model 2245708 because it was not available two years ago. http://i695.photobucket.com/albums/v...GoldCup_ls.jpg http://i695.photobucket.com/albums/v...GoldCup_rs.jpg Don't get me wrong, the Ruger Mark pistols are great guns, more than likely better in the accuracy department than any 1911-22. BUT.....I don't regularly shoot a German Luger P08. I shoot a myriad of 1911s. Ergo; I prefer to shoot a 1911-22lr. |

SIG GSG 1911 though that new Ruger 22/45 is cool looking I guess.

The Ruger .22 is not a P08 clone. Ruger designed the .22 from the Jap Nambu Pistol.:)

You can call it what ever you like. If you read the History Rugers handguns he states that he and Sturm used the Nambu as their pattern.:)

According to Wikipedia
One quality of the Type 14 caught the eye of William B. Ruger who had acquired a captured Nambu from a returning US Marine, shortly after World War II ended in 1945.[1] Ruger duplicated two Nambus in his garage,[2] and although he decided against marketing them, the handgun's rear cocking device and the Nambu's silhouette was incorporated into one of the most popular .22 semi-automatic pistols to ever enter the US firearms market, when in 1949 the Ruger Standard (and later Mark I, II, and III) pistols were sold to the US public.[1]
