YouTube has a lot of videos on 1911 take down. From operator level all the way to complete disassembly.

Warning: Just because they make it "look easy" doesn't make it so. There is a reason they call it operator level maintenance. I'm not trying to be humorous, I'm trying to help you avoid showing up at your LGS w a sack full of parts n a sheepish grin.
