If you are in the PNW, Seattle Area or 100 miles in vicinty, I would be happy to meet up with you and trade you some range time with one of my 1911's and see if it is your weapon.

Hmmmmmm. One of best and most knowledgable members lives in Florida, though I am unsure of where, exactly.

Yep, Ft Lauderdale and Tampa is a day trip to another planet from here!
Find out what the smith says and let us know.
IMHO a new gun that does not pass my check-in goes back!

I'm sorry if I gave you that impression. My time spent here at the FTF is specifically for you young bloods!
God knows I've made enough mistakes in my life and I'm happy to share my experiences with anyone that's willing to listen. I could save you some bucks not to mention that glock thingie I went through in the early '90s.

I have the same 1911 mine shoots fine but I was at the range last summer when a guy asked me if had problems with it shooting low. He said that his was a low shooter. He shot 14 rounds through mine and was right on target. It could be the gun but probably only needs a sight adjustment.

All's well that ends well.
Many folks take it the wrong way when they're advised it's not the gun but their technique - you stuck it out. Are some guns really afflicted with bad sights, sure, but it's also quite rare...
