DefaultSa 1911 a1

Recently was handed Down a SA 1911 A1. How can I tell if it is a mil-spec or a RO?

Sights would be one way - most mil specs have the gi-type rear sight & the RO will have an adjustable rear sight.
Also the barrell bushing on the RO will be stainless (but if the mil spec is a stainless pistol - it's would be too).
Pics would help - but the best way is to call Springfield and give them the serial # - they can tell you all you want to know about it.

No sir, the loaded mod had front serrations, night sights not adjustable sights like yours, ambidextrous safety, urs has right hand safety. So I believe whoever owned it did some adjustments like switch the safety, put on a skeletal hammer, and put on adjustable sights, because all range officers have front serrations also...I will look into it. Call springfield armory like he says, give them your serial number

It looks exactly like my Range Officer did, before I changed out the grips & mags.
