S&w 1911pd
I am considering the Smith & Wesson 1911PD because I can get one new for $760.00. I think they retail for around $1000 so seems like a good deal. The gun appears high quality, but I have never shot one. I did notice that the Ambi slide safety is held in on the right side by the grip and can easily be removed. In fact one of the 1911PD's at the gun shop had the right side slide safety missing because it fell off during shipping. That really turned me off.
Any feedback on this pistol would be helpful. Thanks.

Have had this 1911PD for about a year now. Several hundred rounds down range and so far nothing has fallen off. The 1911PD is a scandium framed pistol and is very light compared to an all steel frame...about 29oz versus 34-36oz. I have been very pleased with it so far, shoots true, no FTF or FTE to-date and looks perty in her Buckeye grips... S&W does use external extractors on their 1911 and that's a turn-off to many purists but truth be told I haven't noticed a bit of difference and like I said, nothing has fallen off yet.
P.S. $760 is a hell of a deal for a new 1911PD.

What do these guns usually sell for?
The gun shop is holding thier last one for me for the $760 price, but I actually prefer the Sig Scorpion. Best price I can get ont he Scorpion new is $1000. I am wondering if I would be foolish to pass up the Smith for the money!?

S&w 1911
I Have the S&W "Gunsite" Commander 1911 and it's been a great pistol. I would buy another. The price is fantastic. I paid 1050 for mine.

I picked up the S&W 1911PD and it is a top notch 1911. I like it every bit as much as my Colt, SIG, and Kimbers.

Dude, before I saw the SIG line of 1911 I wanted a s&w 1911 pd really bad. Though I love my SIG 1911s I would still enjoy finding a pd 1911.
good for you on the purchase!
