S&W 1911, Trigger play

So I picked up a S&W 1911 from budsgunshop. Very nice piece. This is my first 1911. Is the trigger supposed to have a little side to side play? Or is it supposed to be solid?

They seem to come that way for some reason and S&W doesn't seem to think it is a problem. Never affected my shooting or caused the gun to malfunction, but I did not like it. So I changed out the trigger in the 1911 PD commander with an Ed brown trigger, just dropped it in and fit perfect, instead of having that lateral play, it fits solid. Never had a problem since.

Vert,

May I ask which model? I was looking at the Smithys before I decided on the Springer.

Great thing about the 1911 is it has infinate accessories and parts to customize it the way you want. Don't like the wobble just replace it.
