Hi again everyone. I would really like to change my long steel guide rod to one of those plug set up on a mil spec. I would like the silver or steel polish. Could anybody please recommend? Fairly new to hand guns. Also any decent grips that are beige colored for range use? Pleas help!

It sounds like you want a GI guide rod and recoil spring cap. As far as grips, take a look at the "Nice Grips" thread. You can also google "1911 grips" and find a whole world of grips.

Check Brownell's and Midway for a start. There are also other places that specialize in 1911's like Wilson Combat, Cylinder & Slide and Smith & Alexander.
