ruger sr1911 in burlington wisconsin

stopped by my lgs to pick up a pair of bx25 mags for the ruger 1022 takedown and they got a ruger sr1911 for 799$ dunno if that s a good price or not im not up on em. interesting gun. has the same rattle as my colt series 70 (meaning it isnt going to get clogged and stop running with a little dirt) chamber does not appear to be throated like a colt. has a very nice flat msh with very fine lpi on the checkering so it shouldnt cheese grate your palm. only real gripe of course is the colour. silver, Bleh.

if i was in the market for a low end 1911 i would consider it. it would need to have the beavertail removed, extended mag release replaced and the extended safety swapped out along with the chamber throated doing that brings it past the price point of a colt however :(

if you dont mind those things i was pretty impressed with it overall.

I'm pretty certain you can beat that price at Scheel's. The Appleton Scheel's has some on display everytime I visit.

its the first one ive seen anywhere and gotten to spend some quality time going over it. not bad for a hardware store to have one in stock

I believe that I've seen that hardware store. If I recall correctly, it is one of those places that if you could not find something anywhere else, it was there and the clerk knew what it was by the brief description.

Do they still dog trials at Bong?

A little hole in the wall gun shop in Madison Indiana had one a few months back, it was pretty nice. Stainless, don't know if they even make any other finish.

I get up to Burlington a bit, what store was this? My brother in law and runs Camp Mclaine (sp). Nice little town.

Say what? Who would take a dog to court over a lil smokey smoke.

so far my current Ruger catalog only shows the one model of the SR1911 and it's in stainless steel. my thinking is that when they get their production back into full swing, there could be the chance they will offer it in a blued version later on. it's just too nice a pistol not to bring it out in a blued version.
